The European version of the Ford EcoSport will be imported from India, as the carmaker has recently announced during the 2013 Geneva Motor Show.
After it was officially unveiled during the Swiss automotive event a couple of days ago, the European version of the Ford EcoSport is being placed into the spotlights once again, this time with the carmaker announcing that the model will be imported from India.
“We are utilizing that footprint and the economies of scale there (Chennai plant) to import the cars to Europe”, as Glen D. Goold, the chief engineer for B-Car Programs at Ford, has told Indian Autos Blog in Geneva.
According to the North American based automaker, the European version of the Ford EcoSport will be available on the Old Continent with a 1.0 liter EcoBoost turbocharged petrol engine, producing 125 PS, with a 1.5 liter petrol with 110 PS and with a 1.5 liter diesel, generating 90 PS. The Ford EcoSport is a B-segment crossover which will go on sale against models like the Nissan Juke, Renault Captur, Chevrolet Trax, Opel / Vauxhall Mokka or Peugeot 2008. First deliveries of the EcoSport in Europe will start by the end of this year.
