A 1964 Lincoln Continental Limousine, customized for Pope Paul VI, will be auctioned at Quail Lodge in California.
The “ex-holy car” was specially designed to transport Pope Paul VI through the streets of New York in 1965, when the Pope held a speech about world peace.
The limousine’s handrails and step plates were modified so bodyguards could ride along if the situation required, an extra seating was included in the interior, the electronics were modified to include a public address system and the transparent rear section roof was removable so the Pope could be seen by the population.
Pope Paul VI wasn’t the only “VIP” who travelled with the 1964 Lincoln Continental Limousine and the car transported Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and the Apollo astronauts.
The specially customized Lincoln Continental will be auctioned at the Quail Lodge in California and the estimated price for selling it is around 350.000 US dollars, which is actually pretty cheap for a “closer to God experience”.
