After teasing it for a short time, Ferrari has finally presented us with its newest creation, the 599XX Evolution, at the 36th edition of the Bologna Motor Show.
According to the Italian based automaker, the Ferrari 599XX Evolution’s total output has increased to 740 horsepower at 7.000 rpm and 700 Nm of torque (516 lb-ft) from its 6.3 liter V12 engine, thanks to a simple redirect of the exhaust pipes out the sides. Ferrari also says that the 599XX Evolution is now weighing 35 kilograms less (77 lbs) and the automaker has fitted it with a shorter final gear ratio for faster acceleration on medium high-speed tracks.
“The 36th edition of the Bologna Motor Show provides the venue for the unveiling of an evolution of extreme, non-homologated sports berlinetta, the 599XX. Ferrari has introduced a package of performance enhancing technical features available to clients participating in the track based research and development program for the 2012-2013 seasons”, as Ferrari said in the official press release.
In motorsport, the term “Evolution” is representing the most evolved or extreme version of a particular model but in the case of the Ferrari 599XX, which is already an extreme version of the 599 GTB, the Italian manufacturer has taken another step forward with the Evolution Package, giving birth to a “monster”. Ferrari says that the 599XX Evolution has two flaps on the rear wing which electronically open and close to adjust downforce over the rear axle, a system inspired by the Drag Reduction System (DRS) used in Formula 1.
