EXCLUSIVE – Bologna LIVE: Mercedes-Benz A-Class Concept unveiled image

The German based automaker Mercedes-Benz has revealed its A-Class Concept in Italy, at the 36th edition of the Bologna Motor Show.

Even if the Mercedes-Benz A-Class Concept isn’t what you can call “new”, after being presented during several automotive events like the New York Auto Show or Shanghai Auto Show earlier this year, the model is close to hitting the production line, promising new lines and an aggressive design. From the same platform, the German manufacturer is planning to release, besides the new generation of the A-Class, other body styles and powertrains, including an AMG version.

“Stunning from every angle, the new Concept A-CLASS showcases a groundbreaking new concept car from Mercedes-Benz. With its low roofline and athletic stance, the exterior styling is full of expression and energy. Positive and negative surfaces are defined by crisp, dynamic lines. The radiator grille, made from inverted mesh to create a 3-D pin effect, is intricate and ornate, almost jewelry-like”, as the automaker says.

The Mercedes-Benz A-Class Concept is being powered by a turbocharged direct-injection 2.0 liter BlueEfficiency four-cylinder engine which is developing a total output of 210 horsepower. The manufacturer says that several other engines will be available once the model hits the production line and a manual gearbox will be standard, while a seven-seed dual clutch will come as an option.
