An Audi representative has recently confirmed to inautonews.com that an e-tron version of the new R8 generation will be introduced in the near future.
There is no surprise anymore that Audi is currently working on a successor of the popular R8, which will be wearing the same name most likely, as the supercar has been caught on camera several times by now by spy photographers from across the Old Continent. But if you were wondering whether or not the new Audi R8 generation will give birth to a “green” version of it, the answer to that question would be “yes”, as we have recently found out from a representative within the company.
“An e-tron is planned. Timing and whether it comes to US is TBD”, said the Audi official.
The brand new Audi R8 e-tron might be using a couple of electric motors, but this is still to be confirmed. Rumor has it that the new generation of the Audi R8 will be officially presented to the public, in a premiere, next month, during the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. The model in question will be using the same 5.2 liter V10 engine from the Lamborghini Huracan, which, in its Italian cousin, it is good for 602 HP (449 k)W and 560 Nm (413 lb-ft) of torque. The Huracan is capable of reaching 100 km/h (62 mph) from a standstill in 3.2s and a top speed of 325 km/h (202 mph). Additional details on the new R8 are limited at this time.
