A Mitsubishi representative has recently confirmed with inautonews.com the next generation of the ASX which will be available at first with an internal combustion engine.
Speculations on the next generation of the Mitsubishi ASX have hit the roof recently but an official with the company has confirmed the introduction of an internal combustion powered version at first. This will be joined, later on, by a PHEV and regarding the EVO range-topping variant, our source denied it.
“ASX will be available with an internal combustion engine and then as a PHEV. I cannot confirm that ASX will be made available as an EVO. All conversation about future EVOs that you might be reading are pure speculation”, said the official within the company.
The next generation of the popular compact crossover is believed to be introduced sometimes next year. The model is said to have been previewed by the XR-PHEV II Concept which made its public debut at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, back in March. The one-off model is slightly longer by 75 mm, 100 mm wider and 55 mm lower than the current ASX, coming with revamped front and rear ends. This has a 1.1 liter three-cylinder petrol engine under its hood, with 100 kW, along with a 120 kW electric motor and a 14 kWh battery. Additional details on the future generation of the Mitsubishi ASX are limited at this time.
