Mitsubishi has disclosed its plans of introducing the GC-PHEV Concept at the 2014 Chicago Auto Show.
Just a few days ago, the Japanese based automaker Mitsubishi has announced its plans to introduce a new model at the 2015 Chicago Auto Show and has even released a teaser image for the event, but it seems that the company will not be pulling the wraps off what was believed to be the new generation of the Pajero, just yet. According to a source within the company, the model in question will be the GC-PHEV Concept, which can be named just about anything but “new”.
“In Chicago we’ll be debuting the Concept GC-PHEV”, said the Mitsubishi representative when asked by inautonews.com what model is the one in the teaser.
The Mitsubishi GC-PHEV Concept has been introduced a couple of years ago, during the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show. The model was believed to offer a glimpse into the new Pajero generation, but it seems that development of the popular SUV hasn’t begun yet. The one-off vehicle had muscular fenders, a flanking upright grille, panoramic glass roof, a B-pillar-less design, flush mounted exhaust tips, the Tactical Table touch screen operated in the cabin, connected car system, large information display and the regular safety gizmos. Power was being provided by a 3.0 liter V6 petrol engine, which was good for 250 kW, along with a 70 kW electric motor, taking its juice from the 12 kWh battery, mounted under the rear luggage space floor. We are not sure if the company has modified the one-off vehicle for Chicago so we will have to wait and see.
