A Porsche representative has recently confirmed with inautonews.com that the company is not planning on offering an RS version of the recently unveiled Cayman GT4.
Ever since Porsche has officially pulled the wraps off the brand new Cayman GT4, rumors on the company planning an even hotter version of the model, the so-called GT4 RS, have started emerging. However, inautonews.com has learned that the carmaker will not be introducing such a vehicle.
While I think many people would like to dream about one, long before they’ve had the chance to drive the just announced Cayman GT4, there aren’t any plans for an additional model.”, said a Porsche representative.
The Porsche Cayman GT4 has been officially presented to the public during the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, in a premiere, following its online unveil a few weeks earlier. The sports car is getting an aggressive body kit, with mesh grille inserts, a front splitter, a large rear splitter, a fixed rear wing, sport side scoops and so on. The model is also coming with a dual exhaust system, a high performance braking system and a 30 mm reduced ride height, compared to the regular variant.
Under the hood, the Porsche Cayman GT4 is pacing a six-cylinder 3.8 liter engine, producing 385 HP (283k W) and 420 Nm (310 lb-ft) of torque. This is connected to a 6-speed manual transmission which is allowing it to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) from a standstill in 4.4 seconds and a top speed of 295 km/h (183 mph). The Cayman GT4 has lapped the Ring in 7 minutes and 40 seconds and it will be priced from 85,779 euros, in Germany, VAT included.
