The hatchback segment is getting a bit larger with Fiat’s Punto model year 2012, a facelift of the popular Italian car, coming with an aesthetic change, new exterior colors, new seat upholsteries and two new engines.
The model year 2012 Punto is sitting on 15 inch alloy rims and it’s coming with three new metallic bodywork colors: Turquoise, Ruby Red and Graphite Grey, and the TwinAir name on it will indicate the revolutionary two-cylinder engine and a new trim level with a unique look.
According to the Italian automaker, the facelifted Punto has a new 0.9 liter two-cylinder TwinAir Turbo engine, which is delivering 85 horsepower and 145 Nm of torque (107 lb-ft), mated to a six-speed gearbox. The small Punto with the TwinAir engine is emitting just 98g/km of CO2.
The larger 1.3 liter 16v MultiJet engine is delivering the same 85 horsepower but more torque, 200 Nm at 1.500 rpm (147 lb-ft), emitting just 90g of CO2 per kilometer.
The “new” Fiat Punto will make its official debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September and it’s scheduled to go on sale early next year.
