The facelifted version of the Mercedes-Benz SL is getting ready for its future customers as the popular roadster will be opening its order books in December.
According to the German automotive media, Mercedes-Benz is planning to open the order books for the SL facelift in December, this year. The first deliveries of the model should begin in March, 2016, and the mid-cycle refresh will be coming with redesigned front and rear bumpers, with a new side skirt design, with full LED headlights, with a reworked front grille, with different graphics made to the taillights which will be inspired by the ones of the new S-Class generation and several other tweaks which will be putting some distance between this and the current version.
As far as the cabin goes, rumor has it that Mercedes-Benz will be adding a new infotainment system, some new upholstery options, an updated range of safety and assistance systems and several other goodies. The engine lineup will most likely remain the same but don’t act too surprised if the new 4.0 liter twin turbo V8 engine, from the C63 AMG and from the AMG GT sports car will be added under its hood, for the range-topping SL63 AMG version. Additional details on the model are limited for the moment and will be announced once this will be officially unveiled. Keep in mind that the R231 generation of the Mercedes-Benz SL has been in production since 2012 and it was unveiled in the same year, during the NAIAS, in Detroit.
