The newcomer of the electric-auto industry is pushing forward with its marketing and technological strategy by announcing a partnership with Dragon Racing Formula E race team.
The secretive Chinese-backed electric maker headquartered in California has been quite active lately on its way to “revolutionize” the automotive industry and its latest announcement is part of that plan. Faraday Future last week said it made an alliance with Formula E Dragon Racing team to become its technical partner and sponsor. The new team called Faraday Future Dragon Racing will make its official debut at the start of the season 3 at the Formula E Hong Kong ePrix on October 9, 2016. “Formula E has placed a significant emphasis on electric performance and connectivity, which makes it a great fit for Faraday Future,” said Marco Mattiacci, Global Chief Brand & Commercial Officer. Mattiacci, an ex-Ferrari F1 Boss, was recently hired by Faraday, alongside with other top auto managers within the industry.
Faraday and Dragon Racing said they would work together to develop software solutions to boost the race car’s powertrain performance and to refine data acquisition and analytics for better efficiency. In the following season, their goal is “to implement various Faraday powertrain components, software, firmware, and other hardware as the team sees fit,” such as motors, gearbox, and the FF Echelon Inverter – the same inverter that will be fitted into every company’s production model in the future.
So far, Faraday has not provided much details over its upcoming electric model, a car set to enter into production in 2018.
