The FAW-Volkswagen Audi joint venture will bring seven new models to China this year, the Beijing News reported today.
The joint venture also plans to expand its dealer network for the Audi brand from 237 outlets to 300, as well as increasing product localization. FAW-VW Audi general manager Bo Shi is very confident in Audi’s upcoming offerings. “State-of-the-field technology is what lets Audi products lead the field, and is what helps set Audi apart from rival brands,” Mr. Bo was quoted as saying by autonews.gasgoo.com.
Last year, the joint venture brought six brand new Audi models to China, and the trend is set to continue this year. According to Zhang Xiaojun, deputy managing director for FAW-VW Audi, at least seven brand new products will be introduced, including a locally-built A6L, the imported Q3 and Q5 hybrid. High-performance S and RS branded models may also be launched in China, including the S6, S7 and S8.
FAW-VW Audi will also bring yearly upgrades for its models that are currently offered in China. Several new technological features, such as on-off switches for hybrids, are in the works as well. The joint venture also wants to increase the quality of auto parts and facilities used for domestic manufacturing.
