Fernando Alonso won the Bahrain Grand Prix on debut for Ferrari, leading a 1-2 for the Italian team at Formula One’s season-opening race on Sunday.

It was the first time Ferrari had taken the top two spots since the French Grand Prix in 2008.

Massa followed the Spaniard past on the next lap and Lewis Hamilton benefited from Vettel’s problem to take third.
Vettel eventually finished fourth, holding off the Mercedes pair of Nico Rosberg and Michael Schumacher.
