A Ferrari 458 Italia has been completely destroyed in an accident with a Hyundai Accent and its driver has tragically lost his life.
The 21-year old driver of this Ferrari 458 Italia, which was brand new, has tragically lost his life in his white ride after being hit by a drunk driver behind the wheel of a Hyundai Accent. The South Korean vehicle ran a red light and slammed into the Ferrari. The supercar’s driver was killed on the spot and the passenger is in critical condition. The driver of the Hyundai survived and was taken to the hospital but will most likely be facing some serious jail time. The incident took place in Monterey Park, CA.
Ferrari has been producing the 458 Italia since 2009 and this is a rear mid-engine and rear-wheel drive supercar, being powered by a 4.5 liter V8 engine shared with Maserati. The unit is rated at 562 HP (419 kW) and 540 Nm (398 lb-ft) of torque, available at 3,250 rpm. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 7-speed dual clutch transmission, which is shared with the SLS AMG. Ferrari says that the 458 Italia can reach 100 km/h (62 mph) from a standstill in 3.3 seconds and a top speed of 325 km/h (202 mph).
