A Ferrari 458 Spider and a Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera have been involved in a crash recently, in China.
A spectacular supercar crash has destroyed a Ferrari 458 Spider and a Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera. We actually have no clue on how the crash occurred but it seems that the Gallardo Superleggera has suffered the most damage and chances are it will not be salvageable. The 458 Spider has lost its passenger side door in the impact and it suffered some other damages too. The conditions of the drivers and possible passengers are also unknown.
The Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera has made its debut back in 2007, during the Geneva Motor Show. This used to be 100 kg lighter than the standard Gallardo thanks to the use of carbon fiber in the engine cover, in the central tunnel, the rearview mirror housings and the interior door panels. It also came with carbon fiber sports seats and titanium wheel nuts. Power stood at 523 HP (390 kW), 10 HP (7 kW) more than in the standard model.
The Ferrari 458 Spider was introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show, back in 2011. This is the convertible version of the 458 Italia and it is coming with an aluminum retractable hardtop, weighing 25 kg less than the soft roof found on its predecessor, the F430 Spider. The engine used on it was the same 4.5 liter naturally aspirated as in its solid roof brother, allowing it to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in the same time but lowering its top speed to “just” 320 km/h (199 mph).
