A gorgeous black finished example of a Ferrari 458 Spider has managed to slide underneath a pickup truck in California.
It seems that a week cannot go by without a Ferrari 458 being involved in an accident. The newest example of such an incident is coming from California and it involves a black finished unit of the supercar. The model in question has rear ended a pickup truck after its driver was probably more distracted in just about anything else than the main purpose for which he has been sitting behind the wheel, which is driving. Judging by the image posted above, we can dare to say that no one was injured in this crash but this is more than we can say about the driver’s ego.
The Ferrari 458 Spider has been introduced a couple of years after its coupe brother, the 458 Italia, during the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. This is carrying a retractable aluminum hardtop which is weighing 25 kg less than the soft top on its predecessor, the F430 Spider, and it can be opened and closed in 14 seconds. The same 4.5 liter V8 naturally aspirated engine is found under its hood which is rated at 562 HP (419 kW) and 540 Nm (398 lb-ft) of torque, allowing it to reach 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3 seconds, the same as the coupe, while the top speed has been lowered to “just” 320 km/h (199 mph). The 458 has been replaced recently by the 488 GTB.
