Fans of the Ferrari-badged cars will have an extra reason to visit this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show, with the Italian supercar manufacturer announcing the debut of the 458 Spider, which will be the convertible version of the 458 Italia.
The new 458 version has an automated folding hard-top replacing the soft-top, and will receive the same 4.5 liter V8, developing 570 horsepower and 542 Nm of torque, but it might be a little slower than its Italia “brother” due to the extra weight added by the automatic mechanism.
The Ferrari 458 Spider will be officially presented at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show, in September, and will hit the European showrooms on the same month, with the specification that it will also arrive in the United States early next year.
Ferrari is renewing its model line-up with replacements for the 599 GTB Fiorano and the Enzo. The successor of the popular Enzo will be powered by a V8 twin-turbo engine which will develop around 700 horsepower, but a V12 version is also expected.
