The first example of the brand new Ferrari 488 Spider has ended up in the United States.
After being officially unveiled a few months back and with its public debut made at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, the Ferrari 488 Spider is now getting ready to meet its future customers, and what better way to promote it than by bringing it to new markets, such as the United States. This particular supercar is wearing the same blue shade as the one shown in Frankfurt and it has been shown over the past weekend at the Ferrari Challenge, hosted at NOLA Motorsports Park, in Louisiana.
The Ferrari 488 Spider is making use of the same brand new 3.9 liter V8 twin turbo engine, found on the 488 GTB as well, which has replaced the old 4.5 liter naturally aspirated V8 unit, bringing the company into a new era. The new powertrain is capable of putting down a total of 670 HP (492 kW) at 8,000 rpm and a peak torque of 760 Nm (560 lb-ft) of torque, available at 3,000 rpm. The supercar needs just 3 seconds to reach 100 km/h (62 mph), from a standstill, and it can go up to a top speed of 327 km/h (203 mph). The newest convertible born in Maranello has a spaceframe chassis made from 11 different aluminum alloys and a retractable hard top, which can fold back in two overlapping sections in approximately 14 seconds.
