The Italian based automaker Ferrari will present to the public a hardcore version of the 599 GTB, named the 599XX Evolution, at the 36th edition of the Bologna Motor Show.
The term “Evolution” is representing the most evolved or extreme version of a particular model in motorsport but in the case of the Ferrari 599XX, which is already an extreme version of the 599 GTB, the Italian based manufacturer has taken a step forward with the Evolution Pack, giving birth to the 599XX Evolution. According to Ferrari, the 599XX Evolution has two flaps on the rear wing which electronically open and close to adjust downforce over the rear axle, a system influenced by the DRS (Drag Reduction System) which is being used in Formula 1.
“The 36th edition of the Bologna Motor Show provides the venue for the unveiling of an evolution of the extreme, non-homologated sports berlinetta, the 599XX. Ferrari has introduced a package of performance enhancing technical features available to clients participating in the track based research and development program for the 2012-2013 seasons”, as Ferrari says in its official press release.
Ferrari says that the 599XX Evolution’s total output has increased to 740 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque (516 lb-ft), thanks to simply redirecting the exhaust pipes out the sides. The Italian manufacturer also says that the supercar is now weighing 35 kg (77 lbs) less and has a shorter final gear ratio for faster acceleration on medium to high-speed tracks. The Ferrari 599XX Evolution Pack will be officially presented at the 2011 Bologna Motor Show on December 3.
