What appears to be the first image with a Ferrari SP12 EPC, which was actually made for singer Eric Clapton, has hit the web, fully revealing its shape.
According to the guys at autoblog.nl, the SP12 EPC name might actually come from Special Project, 12 being the twelfth car in the exclusive program, and the EPC might stand for the initials of its owner, in this case Eric Patrick Clapton. The same source is also telling us that the one-off Ferrari SP12 EPC is based, as you probably figured it out by now, on the Ferrari 458 Italia, but with some interesting updates.
There is no official word on this “new” Ferrari supercar yet but rumors are saying that the model might actually be powered by a highly tuned V8 engine. As a reminder, the Ferrari 458 Italia is a mid-engined sports car which is replacing the old Ferrari F430, being officially unveiled at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show. The Ferrari 458 Italia is being powered by a 4.5 liter V8 engine, shared with Maserati, which is developing a total output of 562 horsepower at 9.000 rpm and it has a peak torque of 540 Nm available at 6.000 rpm, with 80 percent of the torque being available from 3.250 rpm. The engine is being mated to a seven speed dual clutch transmission and the designer of the Ferrari 458 Italia is Pininfarina.
