Fiat 500 MPV (Ellezero) to be named the 500L image

The Italian based automaker Fiat is planning to name the 500 MPV or the Ellezero, as it is also being known, the 500L.

According to the car manufacturer, the 500L will be officially presented to the public at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, and the “L” in its name stands for “Large”, which is quite appropriate considering the fact that the 500L will be the largest model in the 500 lineup. Even if there is no official word on the new Fiat 500L yet, the United States version is rumored to come with five seats, while the European one will offer seating for up to seven.

The Fiat 500L will go against models like the Ford EcoSport, which is based on the Fiesta, the MINI Cooper Countryman or the Buick Encore. The new model in Fiat’s lineup is expected to come in both front- and all-wheel drive versions, and its engines will include both gasoline and diesel units. The United States model will be powered by a 1.4 liter four-cylinder engine, which is generating 105 horsepower. The Fiat 500L will be manufactured in Serbia and it will come for the B-segment and it will be launched at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, in March, ahead of its U.S. launch in mid-2012.
