The Italian based automaker Fiat is planning to introduce a new model in the United States in mid-2012, the Ellezero, which is actually the 500 MPV model.
The fact that the car manufacturer is planning to present the Fiat 500 MPV at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show in March is no longer a surprise, but until now we didn’t have a name for the model. Not anymore, because this will apparently be called the Ellezero. According to the guys at insideline.com, the Fiat Ellezero will be made in Serbia and it will come for the B-segment, being offered in five- and seven-passenger variants.
Our source is also telling us that the Fiat SUSW platform (Small U.S. Wide) will also underpin a new Jeep crossover which will be made in the US, along with overseas replacements for the Punto and Palio. The upcoming Fiat Ellezero will battle the Ford B-Max and the Opel Meriva in Europe and it’s expected to share the same 1.4 liter gasoline engine with the Fiat 500. The Fiat Ellezero will be made at the Fiat Serbian plant and the model will be officially presented to the public at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. The Ellezero will hit the US dealerships in mid-2012.
