Fiat 500C Abarth unveiled ahead of L.A. Auto Show debut image

Fiat has recently pulled the wraps off the new 500C Abarth, ahead of the model’s official debut scheduled for the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show.

After unveiling the new 500L aimed towards the North American market, the Italian based automaker is placing yet another model into the spotlights, the 500C Abarth, by releasing the very first details and images with it ahead of its official debut at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show. The carmaker says that the Fiat 500C Abarth can open its folding canvas roof at speeds up to 50 mph and it will it can slide back to the rear spoiler at up to 60 mph.

The Fiat 500C Abarth is powered by the 1.4 MultiAir turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which is producing a total output of 160 HP and 170 lb-ft of torque in Sport mode or 155 lb-ft in standard. This is enough to allow the model to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just over 7 seconds. The unit is mated to a five-speed manual transmission. The Fiat 500C Abarth can sit on optional 17-inch alloy wheels. Additional details on the model will be announced during the North American automotive event.
