The Italian based automaker Fiat has recently released more details on the 500L compact crossover, ahead of the model’s official debut at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show in March.
After the Fiat 500L has been caught on camera by the inautonews.com team while it was being tested in northern Italy, the car manufacturer has decided to make it all official, and now, not too long ahead of its official debut, Fiat is announcing more details on the compact crossover. According to the car manufacturer, the Fiat 500L will get more than 30 exterior color choices and fragrance diffusers, and besides the TwinAir technology, the model will come with an eco-Drive application too.
Fiat says that the 500L model will get some engine choices like the new 0.9 TwinAir, the 1.4 liter four-cylinder gasoline engine and the 1.3 liter MultiJet diesel unit, once the model will arrive in European showrooms later this year. Besides these powerplants, the Fiat 500L will also get an eco-Drive version which is expected to cut down fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, but there are no official details on this version’s performance yet.
The Fiat 500L will be made on the company’s Small U.S. Wide (SUSW) platform, which will also underpin models like the compact Jeep crossover in the United States, and it will provide replacements for the Fiat Punto and Fiat Palio. The Fiat 500L will be launched in Europe later this year and in the US in early 2013.
