Fiat celebrated the opening of its first FIAT studio in downtown Chicago.
The studio is situated east of the Kennedy Expressway, in a 17-story building operated and owned by president Antonio Scalzo and his son Carmelo Scalzo, who is the vice president. Fiat has four such studios in Chicago, but this is the first time to open downtown.
“I’m proud to add Downtown Chicago to our growing network of FIAT studios,” said Timothy Kuniskis, Head of FIAT Brand North America. “With its exceptional location, FIAT of Chicago will expand our customer reach in this critical market.”
Fiat celebrated the opening Thursday, August 23rd, from 6 to 9 p.m. with a fashion show, refreshments, food and pop-up lounge. Antonio Scalzo joined the company as a young mechanic and in his early twenties he moved to Chicago trying to accomplish his dream of having his own business. In 1979 he bought Suburban Auto Imports, a small Fiat dealership in the suburbs of Chicago and transformed it into the largest Fiat/Alfa Romeo dealership in the U.S.
FIAT of Chicago was opened in July and has 25 Fiat models on its showroom floor and other 50-60 cars displayed indoors.
