The first Dodge Dart-based Fiat will be unveiled this month at the Beijing Auto Show. The car in question is the new Fiat Viaggio sedan, a vehicle that will be made in China by Fiat with its local partner GAC.
The teaser photos show we can expect a new look for the Viaggio, with more chrome trim than the Dodge Dart, as well as a rounded-off grille, integrated trunklid spoiler, and unique taillights.
The new four-door, five- passenger Fiat Viaggio is based on the CUSW (Compact US Wide) architecture – the most advanced within the Fiat Group – which is also the basis of the new Dodge Dart, recently presented at the Detroit Motor Show last January.
Power for the Viaggio is expected to come from locally built versions of Fiat’s naturally aspirated and turbocharged 1.4 liter petrol engines. In addition the 4,679mm in length vehicle will come equipped with a a 5-speed manual transmission or the latest Dual Dry Clutch Transmission (DDCT) developed by Fiat Powertrain.
The Viaggio will start production in July in the new GAC-Fiat factory in Changsha, and will go on sale in China in the third quarter of this year. It will be on display at the Beijing auto show.
