The Italian based automaker Fiat has recently announced that the all-new Viaggio will be named the Fei Xiang for the Chinese automotive market.
Going against models like the Ford Focus or the Volkswagen Sagitar in China, the Fiat Viaggio needed a good name in order to compete better with its rivals and the company has found it: Fei Xiang will be the Chinese name for the Viaggio. The new Fei Xiang is actually made on the same platform as the Dodge Dart, the Compact US Wide (CUSW) and the model is 4, 679 mm long, 1,850 mm wide and it’s riding on a wheelbase of 2,708 mm.
“Viaggio is positioned in most competitive mid-class segment in China’s automotive market, targeting potential consumers with a passion for life. Enthusiastic, responsible, daring to dream and persistent: they are young and styling, having grown up in the cities and set to become the backbone of Chinese society”, says Fiat.
The Fei Xiang is expected to get a range of turbo engine like the 1.4 liter T-Jet, generating 120 horsepower and 150 horsepower, and the transmission choices will include a five-speed manual and a six-speed automatic. The Fiat Viaggio / Fei Xiang has been officially presented to the public last month, during the 2012 Beijing Motor Show.
