The freshest race car made by McLaren Racing and CRS Racing under the MP4-12C GT3 name was already sold. In fact 20 of them were sold, as the auto maker explains.
“Our new customers appreciate that taking a race season to develop the 12C GT3 means we are able to deliver a level of reliability and drivability that exceeds their expectations of new race cars. Our experiences during this race season are helping us refine the 12C GT3’s technical credentials”, said the McLaren GT Project Manager, Andrew Kirkaldy.
According to the British brand, the 12C GT3 will be supplied with a steering wheel that has the same design as the one used by Lewis Hamilton in his McLaren Formula 1 car. “Our clients are looking forward to receiving a FT car full of Formula 1 technology and we are committed to ensuring ownership of the 12C GT3 is as enjoyable as racing it”, said CEO Martin Whitmarsh.
The McLaren MP4-12C GT3 is powered by a 3.8 liter V8 engine which surprisingly develops 100 horsepower less than the street version, but according to engineers the power was optimized so they would get a perfectly balanced race car.
To make it on the circuit, the 12C GT3 was fitted with a carbon fiber body kit, as well as a new radiator and a new transmission cooling system.
The new McLaren MP4-12C GT3’s price was set at 310.000 British pounds.
