First 2015 COPO Camaro to be auctioned image

The first example of the 2015 COPO Camaro will be offered for auction in a few days, at the Barrett Jackson Palm Beach auction.

If you happen to be a speed junky with a lot of money to spare and you also have a soft spot for powerful American muscle cars, than the Barrett Jackson auction in Palm Beach is where you want to be this weekend because the first example of the 2015 COPO Camaro will be auctioned over there. The announcement has been made recently by Chevrolet as 100 percent of the winning bid will benefit the Achilles Freedom Team of Wounded Veterans, which is helping disabled athletes to gain access to equipment, training and races.

“This sale gives the highest bidder the opportunity to buy the first of only 69 factory-assembled 2015 COPO Camaro race cars, the final year of the fifth-generation Camaro. Chevrolet is excited to offer this milestone Camaro to help a very worthy organization”, said the vice president of Performance Vehicles and Motorsports, Jim Campbell.

The 2015 COPO Camaro has a 2.9 liter Whipple supercharger and clients can also choose the 350, 396 or 427 naturally aspirated engines, along with a 327 motor with a 2.9 liter or a 4.0 liter supercharger. Power to this particular car, wearing the 2015COPO001 serial number, is being provided by a 5.7 liter V8 engine, which is capable of putting down no less than 555 HP (413 kW), being connected to a 3-speed automatic racing transmission. This configuration is allowing it to run the quarter mile in the mid-eight second range.
