The first unit of the BMW i8 has been recently spotted out while cruising the streets of New York.
BMW has officially announced the starting price of the impressive i8 across the United States but the model in question is still waiting for the 2014 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, in August, in order to hit the dealerships, but before this will happen, the company will sell a special model at an auction, during the above mentioned automotive event. The images posted below are showing the first BMW i8 seen cruising around the streets of New York and they have been posted on Autogespot.
The BMW i8 will have a starting price of 135,700 USD, for the base entry-level version across the United States, which is the equivalent of 99,000 euros or 79,000 GBP. The model will be coming with three packages, the Giga World, the Tera World and the Pure Impulse and it will be powered by the same 131 HP (86 kW) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque hybrid synchronous motor, which is backed up by the range extender, the I3 1.5 liter, with its 228 HP (170 kW) and 320 Nm (236 lb-ft) of torque. The output produced by the powertrain stands at 357 HP (266 kW) and 570 Nm (420 lb-ft) of torque.
