Mazda has officially unveiled the first production 2016 MX-5 Cup, at the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, in California, recently.
The newest model to be signed by Mazda is the 2016 MX-5 Cup. This has been officially unveiled at the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion in California and it will basically become a pace car at the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. The vehicle in question is resembling the standard race car but it has a few bits and pieces which are definitely distinguishing it.
“For Mazda, this weekend is the perfect blend of past, present, and future,” noted John Doonan, director of motorsports for Mazda North American Operations. “We are celebrating our motorsports heritage on the track with our vintage race cars. We are showcasing our current line-up of race-inspired products in our consumer display in the paddock, and with this pace car, we are giving a glimpse into the 2016 racing season when the latest MX-5 Miata will be racing in the Global MX-5 Cup.”
The brand new 2016 Mazda MX-5 Cup has received a few tweaks which will help it differentiate. These include the new graphics for the exterior design and the emergency lights, amongst others. The graphics have been completed at the Mazda Design studio in Irvine, California, and they have been applied by StickyFingers Design. The model will be making its debut between the 11th and the 13th of September, at the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca racing season and more details on it will be announced then.
