We’re pretty sure the German brand has made a fool out of itself all around the world, but more so in America – though it’s trying hard to make amends.
One good idea is to appeal to enthusiast – and that’s exactly what the namesake brand is doing just in time for the SOWO: The European Experience, which took place on Hutchinson Island in Savannah, Georgia. The fans are being greeted there with a raft of new concepts, based on the Alltrack, Beetle, GTI, Golf R, and Jetta GLI – any of them should have fans jumping with joy if the company decides to morph them into production cars. Starting with the Golf GTI RS Concept, this one should be the most appealing for performance enthusiasts, as it’s complete with Porsche 911 GT3 RS, Rocket Bunny widebody kit and a roll cage inside.
The Golf R Heritage Concept is for traditionalists – black hue with red, orange, and yellow stripes to honor the German flag, as well as Vossen wheels with matte gunmetal finish with polished outer rims riding on a set of lowered springs. The Jetta GLI Nardo Concept is the inconspicuous of the bunch, with Audi’s Nardo Grey paint, dark Tarmac finish for the HRE wheels and H&R coil overs.
The Golf Alltrack Country Concept is of course referencing other types of enthusiasts – the crossover wagon is all about camping, with 2-inch suspension lift, extra fog lights, roof-mounted tent and even perks such as a solar panel and solar-heated shower. There’s also an entertainment system in the trunk, as well as two Trek Stache 9.6 mountain bikes. The Beetle Post Concept is even more akin to bikers – BMX rider Alise Post decided on a pair of bespoke GW cycles, but there are also 19-inch Mr. Drama Queen wheels, H&R coil overs and even VW vintage lettering.
