Ford announced that the SYNC with MyFord Touch will enter Europe in 2013 with the new Ford Focus Electric.
“SYNC with MyFord Touch and Focus Electric both deliver cutting-edge technologies developed to optimise the ownership experience for Ford customers – they are a perfect combination, ” said Barb Samardzich, vice president of Product Development, Ford of Europe.
The system is powered by Microsoft and it offers mobile WiFi connectivity, significantly enhanced voice-activation functionality and an eight-inch color touchscreen. SYNC was recently launched in Europe in the all-new B-MAX and more than 4 million cars featuring the system are currently on the roads in the US. SYNC with MyFord Touch provides extra features for global markets, including Europe, and one would be new language understanding.
The system helps the driver control the Focus Electric using voice commands in one of the European languages included: English; French; Spanish; Portuguese; German, Italian, Dutch, Russian and Turkish. Drivers can access their mobile phone, climate control, navigation and the car’s audio entertainment only by using their voice.
“Voice-activation is a key element of our SYNC systems,” said Jason Johnson, supervisor for infotainment and connectivity, Ford of Europe. “It simplifies the experience for the customer and simplifies the voice-activation experience to deliver real benefit.”
