Ford Motor Company was recently awarded with the Engine of the Year for the 1.0 liter EcoBoost unit, along with two other awards.
Besides being named the 2012 Engine of the Year, the 1.0 liter EcoBoost has also been awarded with the Best New Engine and Best Engine under 1 liter awards. The impressive 1.0 liter EcoBoost unit managed to overcome the 2011 winner, which was the Fiat 0.9 TwinAir, also marking Ford’s first win in the award in 13 years since this competition exists. The Greenest Engine was won by the Chevrolet Volt / Opel Ampera and the High Performance Engine of the Year was one by the Ferrari 458 Italia and its V8 unit.
As a quick reminder, the small Ford 1.0 liter EcoBoost engine has recently entered production in the company’s plant in Craiova, Romania, and the unit is also being made in Koln, Germany. The engine can be found across Europe in two versions, with 100 HP and with 125 HP, on the new Ford Focus, where it’s highly appreciated for its performance, fuel economy and refinement. The small engine will be also added to the Ford B-MAX, to the Ford C-MAX and to the Ford Grand C-MAX.
