Ford began production of the Ford C-MAX and Grand C-MAX powered by the 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine at the Valencia plant in Spain.
Both the 100 horsepower and 125 horsepower versions of the 1.0-liter engine will power the C-MAX and Grand C-MAX.
“The 1.0-litre EcoBoost has been a hit with critics and customers alike, so we’re very excited to offer the same combination of fuel efficiency and engine power in the C-MAX and the larger Grand C-MAX, ” said Roelant de Waard, vice president, Marketing, Sales & Service, Ford of Europe. “It’s an industry exclusive to power a seven-seat vehicle with an engine this small and we think it will be a revelation for drivers who want fuel economy without sacrificing driving fun,” de Waard added.
The three-cylinder 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine combines turbocharging, direct fuel injection and variable valve timing to deliver the power of a larger engine with the fuel efficiency of a smaller engine. Equipped with the 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine, the C-MAX achieves 5.1 l/100 km and 117 g/km CO2 across both power outputs, while the Grand C-MAX achieves 5.2 l/100 km and 119 g/km.
C-MAX and Grand C-MAX aside, the 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine also powers the new Ford B-MAX and Fiesta, as well as the upcoming new Ford Mondeo and EcoSport.
