Ford has officially confirmed the development of the Focus RS and it has also announced a new performance division, the Ford Performance.
The North American based automaker Ford is currently playing big as the carmaker has made a double announcement recently, confirming the development of the upcoming Focus RS and telling us about the performance divisions, the Ford SVT, the Team RS and the Ford Racing, which will be all known as Ford Performance.
“Our new global Ford Performance team ties together racing, performance vehicles and parts. It will allow us to more quickly introduce products and accessories that meet the needs of customers around the world on-road and on the track”, said Raj Nair, the company’s VP of global product development.
The upcoming Ford Focus RS is rumored to be introduced next month, at the 2015 NAIAS, in Detroit, and this should get the same 2.3 liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine under its hood as the mid-range 2015 Mustang. The unit will be producing approximately 325 HP (239 kW) – 350 HP (375 kW) and will probably be sent to the same front-wheel drive, despite the recent rumors telling that the new Focus RS will be all-wheel drive. More details on the hot hatch are limited at this time.
