The North American based automaker Ford is planning to launch a new seven-seat version of the EcoSport.
The Ford EcoSport has already been unveiled and launched in several markets across the globe but the car manufacturer is now aiming the model to a whole new segment of people looking for a new car because rumors are saying that the EcoSport will get a seven-seat version. The wheelbase of the new model won’t be extended, as you have probably expected, but in fact the rear overhand will be elongated in order to make room for the extra two seats.
The longer version of the Ford EcoSport is currently kept in the shadows but rumors are saying that the model will continue to offer the same engine lineup, which includes the 1.5 liter petrol, the 1.5 liter diesel and the popular 1.0 liter EcoBoost. If the longer seven-seat Ford EcoSport will become a hit in Brazil, where it’s expected to be launched at first, the model will then be brought to other markets, worldwide.
As a quick reminder, the Ford EcoSport has been officially presented to the public during the New Delhi Auto Expo and the model is based on the same platform as the Fiesta. This means that the main rivals of the EcoSport are the segment leader Nissan Juke, the new Opel Mokka, the upcoming Peugeot 2008 or the future Renault Clio-based crossover.
