Ford Edge Concept officially unveiled [LA Auto Show – live images] image

Ford has pulled the wraps off the new Edge Concept, ahead of its public debut, scheduled for the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show.

Ford’s newest creation in terms of SUVs is named the Edge and it’s basically a concept which will preview a final production vehicle. The model in question will eventually be transformed into a large SUV, which is believed to make its way onto the market in the next couple of years, globally. The Ford Edge Concept is coming with some interesting items, such as the fully assisted parking, which is allowing the owner to park it by simply pressing a button, or even by remote control.

The Ford Edge Concept can park itself thanks to the ultrasonic sensors, which can detect a perpendicular parking space, and some similar sensors are also used for the advanced obstacle avoidance system. The model in question has also received the active park assist, the adaptive cruise control, the blind spot information system, a lane keeping assist and much more, which are available with the addition of some sensors and cameras at all four corners of the vehicle.

The Ford Edge Concept is also getting the LED technology for the headlamps and taillights, a Copper Flame exterior finish, a large 10-inch touch screen display with the MyFord Touch in the cabin, a bespoke steering wheel, a leather covered instrument panel and much more. Unfortunately Ford didn’t release any details about what we can find under its hood so we have no info on the subject.
