A preview of what could be the next Mondeo family car, or even the next Focus, or the competition for the Mercedes BLS, has been released by Ford, under the Evos Coupe Concept name, ahead of its official debut of the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
With a head-turning exterior design featuring gullwing doors and new infotainment systems, the Evos Coupe is slightly longer than a Focus, with 4.5-meter, 1.97m wide, the same as the Lamborghini Aventador, and almost as low as the Audi TT with 1.36 meters.
The Evos Coupe has the Ford grille mounted in a high position, slim front headlights with LEDs and a small air intake, giving it an “upmarket look”. The eye-catcher gullwing door layout will probably be the thing that will make someone buy this car, if it hits the production line in this form, saying “Yes, I know, VW, but look at these doors!”.
According to the automaker, the Evos will use the same petrol-electric powertrain as the C-Max Energi hybrid, scheduled to go on sale in 2013. The Evos takes its power from a 2.0 liter engine and an electric motor, combined by a system which makes the two work together or separately to maximize efficiency, giving the Concept a range up to 500 miles.
No additional details are known yet about the Ford Evos Coupe Concept but the car will be officially presented at the Frankfurt Auto Show in less than two weeks.
