After a preview has been used for the introduction of the Ford Falcon XR6 and XR8 Sprint, the company has decided to detail the roaring models in a fully fledged gallery.
The high-performance models are tipped as a tribute to the rear-wheel drive sedan that now faces extinction in Australia, with the special series coming out as a limited edition roster of models. They have a subtle new design packing body side graphics, a trunk-mounted spoiler, and 19-inch alloy wheels with a black coating. We also remind you of the lack headlight bezels, new fog light surrounds, and the high-performance Brembo braking system that shows off with its gold caliper treatment. The flagship XR8 Sprint also ups the ante by adding a Silhouette black roof and black mirror caps. The bespoke treatment is also present in the cabin where the designers and engineers have treated the Falcon to leather and suede sport seats, a modified instrument cluster, and a custom shifter. There are also numerous standard amenities, including dual-zone automatic climate control system, auto-dimming rearview mirror, premium audio system, and a SYNC 2 infotainment system with GPS navigation.
Starting off with the base Falcon XR6 Sprint the buyers will get a turbocharged 4.0-liter six-cylinder engine packing 435 horsepower and 424 pound-feet of torque or 496 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque when using the overboost feature. The beefier XR8 Sprint packs a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine kicking the asphalt with 462 hp and 424 lb-ft of torque or 536 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque when the overboost is used. The Ford Falcon Sprint models will be in dealerships in Australia this May and the production run will span 1,400 units – pricing goes from $54,990 AUD for the XR6 Sprint and $59,990 AUD if the XR8 Sprint is chosen.
