Ford has recently announced that the recall for the Fiesta models, because of a problem with the side curtain airbags has been expanded to South America too.
After the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced not too long ago that owners of the 2009-2012 Ford Fiesta models will have to take a trip back to the dealers because of a problem with the passenger side curtain airbags, the vehicles are being highlighted once again, this time by Ford and its announcement of the South America expanded recall. Ford says that a total of 262,000 units of the Ford Fiesta models have been affected by this problem and 154,604 are located in the U.S., while the other 107,396 can be found in South America.
The affected Ford Fiesta models in South America are the same as the ones in North, which have been produced between the 3rd of November 2009 and the 21st of September, 2012. The side curtain airbags in the affected vehicles might not deploy in case of an impact so the injury risk is increasing. Dealers have already been notified and now the owners will be informed shortly on this problem. The recall is expected to begin this month (October).
