The British Magazine Top Gear has recently named the new Ford Focus ST Estate the 2012 Hot Hatch of the year.
After it was officially unveiled just earlier this year, the new Ford Focus ST Estate is being placed into the spotlights, this time by the guys at Top Gear Magazine, who have named the model the 2012 Hot Hatch of the Year. The award is being considered a surprise move and the Ford Focus ST Estate has managed to surpass a lot of interesting vehicles in its segment before being named the 2012 Hot Hatch of the Year.
The Ford Focus ST Estate, which is still technically a hot hatch, is powered by the same engine found under the hood of the regular five-door hatchback version of the model, the Focus ST. The unit, which is a 2.0 liter four-cylinder turbo, is producing a total output of 250 HP and it has a peak torque of 265 lb-ft, being mated to a six-speed manual transmission. In the Focus ST, this is enough to allow the model to spring from 0 to 62 mpg in 6.5 seconds, before reaching a top speed of 155 mph.
