The Ford Fusion Hybrid Automated Research Vehicle has been officially unveiled by the company and it might give birth to a final production vehicle.
The North American based automaker Ford can’t stay aside from the new battle which will include self driving cars and its first step into developing such a model has been made. The vehicle in question is named the Ford Fusion Hybrid Automated Research Vehicle and it was officially unveiled by the North American based automaker. This will be used to test current and future sensing systems and driver assist technologies.
“The Ford Fusion Hybrid automated vehicle represents a vital step toward our vision for the future of mobility. We see a future of connected cars that communicate with each other and the world around them to make driving safer, ease traffic congestion and sustain the environment. By doing this, Ford is set to have an even greater impact in our next 100 years than we did in our first 100”, said Bill Ford, the Ford executive chairman.
The new Ford Fusion Hybrid Automated Research Vehicle will use the LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) sensors which will use some sensors scanning the road 2.5 million times every second in order to create a 3D map of the environment. This is, in fact, the only thing we know on the Ford Fusion Hybrid Automated Research Vehicle. More details will probably be announced in the nearby future.
