Ford has started to build its refreshed Escape SUV image

Production of the newly refreshed 2017 Ford Escape is now underway, with sales set to start in May, the automaker announced.

With SUVs being such a hot-selling segment, it is no wonder Ford reported record deliveries for its big high-riders in first two months of the year. The most-wanted SUV with a Blue Oval badge is the compact Escape and second only to F-Series as the best-selling Ford in the United States. The Detroit-based automaker has just announced the production of the refreshed 2017 Escape is now under way at the Louisville Assembly Plant in Kentucky. The new model, which goes on sale in May, will be the first Ford vehicle available with the new SYNC Connect technology, which offers features such as remote start and door locking via the FordPass platform and it will also be first to offer SYNC 3 with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

As for driver and safety assist technologies, there is active park assist, adaptive cruise control and forward collision warning with brake support, as well as lane keeping system, blind spot detection, hill start assist or the automated high beam function. Under the hood, the Escape comes with two new EcoBoost engines featuring the start/stop function, the 1.5-litre EcoBoost with 180 bhp and the the new twin-scroll turbocharged 2.0-liter 245 bhp EcoBoost. Workers at Louisville Assembly have been manufacturing Escape starting with 2012 and since then, production has steadily increased to 306,492 units last year.
