Ford has recently signed a deal to become the title sponsor for Detroit’s annual fireworks display until 2016.
Ford will replace Target Corp. which has been the title sponsor for Detroit’s annual fireworks display for the past 12 years. The Ford Fireworks will be presented by Target this year and are set for June 24th. Beginning with 2014 the event will be known as The Ford Fireworks. The Detroit fireworks display is 55 years old and was created by the Parade Company, and it attracts hundreds of thousands of spectators annually both from Canada and the US.
“Events like this bring everyone together…(and) reach a lot of the people who have helped us be successful, whether its employees, dealers, suppliers or customers,” said Jim Vella, president of the Ford Motor Co. Fund and Community Services.
The multi-million-dollar deal is a great accomplishment for Ford which will celebrate its 110th anniversary next month and Henry Ford’s 150th birthday in July. Ford will also be the presenting sponsor for the rooftop fundraising party which takes place each year and is hosted by The Parade Co. and Hob Nobble Gobble fundraiser. The party takes place in November before the American Thanksgiving Parade.
“Ford is deeply committed to Detroit and our community, and iconic events like the fireworks bring people together to celebrate our great city,” said Jim Vella.
