For the first time ever, an automaker has gained the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show accolades for two years in a row in their respective categories.
The SEMA officials have decided that three Ford models should be crowned the hottest vehicles in their respective segments – the Mustang, Focus, and Ford F-Series are now the Hottest Coupe, Hottest Hatch and Hottest Truck at this year’s edition. And Ford comes with this awards after last year it was the first time an OEM took home three win in the prestigious awards – additionally the Mustang has been crowned king in the most popular vehicle category for five years in a row. “We are honored to take home three SEMA hottest vehicle awards for the second straight year,” said Dave Pericak, global director at Ford Performance.
And more so, the best selling truck in America, the F-Series, has taken home six SEMA awards in the last seven years. “Ford is a great partner with the specialty equipment market, and the Mustang, Focus and F-Series trucks are terrific platforms for customization,” added Chris Kersting, SEMA president and CEO. The Blue Oval company has the widest presence at the show with more than 50 vehicles on display – including stars such as the 2017 F-150 Raptor readied for the Baja 1000 race.
