A new Ford Mustang Pace Car has been officially unveiled by the North American based automaker, which will be used at the Qucken Loans 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup race, in a couple of days.
Ford’s newest creation is aimed towards motorsport and it is basically a new pace car which has been created using the new generation of the Mustang. The muscle car in question will be used on the Quicken Loans 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup race, at the Michigan International Speedway, on Sunday, the 15th of June.
“With its proximity to the Motor City, Michigan International Speedway is a showcase for the auto industry. To have Mustang – a brand born of racing – in this special anniversary year, leading some of the world’s best drivers to the green flag, is special. We know our fans will enjoy seeing it out on the track”, said the U.S. marketing director from Ford, Chantel Lenard.
The new Ford Mustang Pace Car will be driven by the company’s president of The Americas, Joe Hinrichs, and it has received some racing liery, special decals and an LED light bar, to help set it apart and also to celebrate the model’s 50th anniversary. The Mustang in question is being equipped with a 5.0 liter V8 engine, which is rated at more than 420 HP (313 kW) and 528 Nm (390 lb-ft) of torque.
