The 2017 Ford Fusion V6 Sport is a performance-oriented family hauler – you can haul the whole family inside and when it’s time to be alone or just with the missus you may also claim the performance side.
This because Ford has added tweaks that deliver more excitement to the ride when drivers are looking for some fun times, and when the kids aren’t in the back seat mom and dad can go ahead and press the Sport button on the rotary gear knob. This enables a switch from a regular four door sedan to a performance machine. The flagship Fusion has seven items retuned when using the Sport button – with obvious alterations to the transmission such as longer gear holds and rev-match downshifts. The setting also delivers stiffer dampers, allowing for minimal body roll during cornering.
The steering, throttle and paddle shift responses are also faster, and the in-cabin noise cancellation has been retuned to allow more engine sound inside. The Sport of course makes use of the main asset – its 2.7-liter EcoBoost biturbo V6 packing 325 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque. The powertrain is completed using a six-speed automatic and an all-wheel-drive system. Of course the fuel economy is not spectacular – the EPA says 26 miles per gallon highway and 17 mpg city, while Ford asks $34,350 (after $875 destination) for the base version.
