And it will be taking part in the 2015 IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge.
Ford has officially introduced the new Shelby GT350R-C. The model in question will be taking part in the 2015 IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge and it has been based on the road-legal version, the GT350R. The model in question is considered to be the spiritual successor of the Boss 302R and it is gaining several updates made to its exterior design which, along with the numerous decals, will be helping it differentiate even more.
“Like so many Mustangs before it, the Shelby GT350R is a car born to race,” said Dave Pericak, director, Global Ford Performance. “We’re taking it to the track as the GT350R-C and we’re ready to see what it can do against the best competition in the world.”
The cabin of the new Ford Shelby GT350R-C has been stripped out. The model has also gained some updated spring rates and anti-roll bars, track-specific alignment settings and a lower ride height. Under its hood, the racer is carrying the naturally aspirated 5.2 liter V8 flat-plane engine form the GT350R. Ford hasn’t released any performance specifications on the racer, for obvious reasons, but we will tell you that the standard unit is capable of putting down a total of 526 HP (392 kW) and 580 Nm (429 lb-ft) of torque. More details on the vehicle are limited at this time.
