Ford Sollers plans to expand production at the Elabuga facility in Tararstan adding new models such as the Ford Kuga, Ford S-MAX, Ford Galaxy and Ford Explorer.
After the successful launch of Ford Transit production, Ford adds 4 new models that will roll from now on off the assembly lines.
“We are announcing the start of local production of the Ford Kuga, Ford S-MAX, Ford Galaxy and our flagship model, the Ford Explorer,” said Adil Shirinov, Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer, Ford Sollers. “This is a great pleasure for us because we know there is a great level of demand for Ford SUVs in the Russian market. As for Transit production, we’ve already built over 5,000 cars at in Tatarstan to date.”
He also added that the new models will strengthen Ford’s market in Russia, especially in the SUV segment. The sales results from January to June show that demand for the Ford Kuga and Explorer has significantly increased among the Russian consumers, up 85%. With the expansion of the Elabuga facility, Ford will be able to offers Russian customers these models in larger numbers.
